Look - Toxic Envy
It's been forever since I last posted, I really ought to start doing it more often. To kick things off, here's a look I did last night. It wasn't planned out, but I find that those looks always turn out far better than ones I have planned.

Halloween Photo Shoot
Today, I worked on a Halloween-themed photoshoot with Karl Walsh Photography. I took a couple of shots myself, these haven't been edited or Photoshopped at all, and they may be a little blurry (it was cold out there), but they give the basic gist.

EOTD - Illyria
It's been an absolute age since I last posted a look. Anyway, this one is a bit rough & ready, I got the urge to do this first thing this morning. I did one eye only, no other make-up at all, it was a test run of an idea I had kicking around.
I'm a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer & its offshoot series Angel, with Angel being my favourite of the two shows. So, I got the idea late last night to do a themed look, the inspiration being the character Illyria.

Illamasqua - Wisdom Precision Ink
Another item I picked up on my recent haul from the Illamasqua Generation Q collection is Precision Ink in Wisdom.
Although I'm a slave to a good, black liquid liner, occasionally, I like to change it up with another colour. Wisdom is still dark, but it's definitely a deviation from black.

Illamasqua - Human Fundamentalism - Lips
Of the four shades of lipstick available as part of Illamasqua's Human Fundamentalism collection, I bought two & already owned a third.
There's also an additional Illamasqua lippie being thrown in here. It isn't part of the collection, but I thought I'd add it to this post.
First up; Apocalips.
A stunning matte teal lipstick. I've never seen one quite like Apocalips, as I have a thing for teal, I had to try it. For such an unusual lipstick colour, it's surprisingly flattering.
With a lot of matte lipsticks, I've found they can be quite drying, this isn't a problem with Apocalips. It's also hugely pigmented; you won't have to pile this on to achieve a good result.

Illamasqua - Human Fundamentalism - Eyes
I recently went to my local Illamasqua counter to check out the Human Fundamentalism collection and, of course, came away with a few bits & bobs from the collection, as well a couple of other things. Some pieces that are part of Human Fundamentalism were already in my stash too. Since there's quite a few photos & swatches, I decided to break this up in to two posts. This one concentrates on eyes & the second, which will follow shortly, is all about lips.

Look - Blurple
Yeah, a bit of a cop-out on the naming of this one, but I was somewhat stumped. Anyway, this was something I threw together to go & do a spot of shopping yesterday. I'm really disappointed with the pictures (something that happens too often, my looks pictures never turn out well), this looked so much better in person.

Illamasqua - Pure Pigment in Ore
Although I'm not a huge fan of gold, I'd been eyeing Illamasqua's Pure Pigment in Ore for some time. This week, I decided to spend some Xmas money & finally pick it up.
Ore is more of a bronze-gold than a bright, yellow gold. For a vivid, bright gold, my first choice is Sugarpill's Chromalust in Goldilux .
What drew me to Ore initially is the shimmer; in certain lights, there's tiny hints of green & a peachy shade that contrast beautifully with the base shade.

Rock 'n' Roll Challenge - Eye of the Storm
The second part of my Rock 'n' Roll challenge & this was also my New Year's Eve look. This particular eye was based upon the Smashed Gladys song, Eye of the Storm.

Nails - The Return of The Holo Leopard
After my first attempt at doing holo leopard nails the other day, I decided to try them again in different colours. I ended up doing two lots; lime green & gold, then a purple version.
The first attempt was the lime green. For this particular mani, I used;
- China Glaze's L8R G8R - for the base colour
- China Glaze's Medallion - for the spots
- Random black nail art pen to outline the spots

Illamasqua Haul - Theatre of the Nameless
Small haul from Illamasqua's latest collection, two of the Pure Pigments, one of the lipglosses & the new Masquara.

| Pure Pigment in Beguile |
Looking at the website swatches doesn't do Beguile justice. It looks like a shimmery white, but in person it's so much more. Reminiscent of the Static pure pigment, whereas Static has purple & pink shimmer, Beguile has green & pink shimmer. The shimmer is smaller than that in Static, so this one also makes a great highlighter shade (it looks great over blusher for a really glam night-out look).

Nails of The Weekend
Couldn't think of a name for this particular mani. Purple was the colour of the night, so the nail look was based around that. I chose my favourite purple of the moment, Illamasqua's Poke, threw in some silver, some glitter & animal print.
The products used for this mani were -
- Illamasqua - Poke for the purple
- Zoya - Trixie for the silver
- China Glaze - Nova, a very thin layer to add a bit of sparkle
- Konad plate M69
- Special polish in black
The glitter was a touch more obvious in person, but I didn't want to over-do it, it would've overwhelmed the purple.
Ignore the middle finger. As usual, I was messing around before it had dried completely & it smudged a little. I really ought to learn to wait until my nails are properly dry before doing things.

Illamasqua - Nail Polish in Poke & Viridian
Two shades of nail polish that kept catching my eye at the Illamasqua counter - Veridian, a metallic peacock green, & Poke, a bright, shimmery violet.

Two coats will give a good, opaque, bottle-perfect shade. To really bring out the shimmer, a good, glossy topcoat is needed.

Illamasqua - Skin Base Foundation
Illamasqua's newest foundation, Skin Base, is based upon Asian BB creams. Having tried a couple of BB creams, I decided to give Skin Base a whirl. Upon looking at the Illamasqua site, SB 06 seemed like the best match, as I have fairly neutral undertones. When I went to the counter & said that I used their Rich Liquid foundation in shade 133, the lovely counter staff agreed that SB 06 was the shade I should go for.

Glitter & Rock 'n' Roll
Last night was gig night! The amazing Falling Red were playing locally & I felt I needed to do something pretty fabulous for the occasion.
I'm not entirely sure how much I loved this. It looked good, but in my head it looked better (if that makes any sense).
I used Sugarpill's Bulletproof, Stella & Darling, Illamasqua's Idol, MAC's Bough Grey (which is rapidly becoming my favourite shade to blend out blacks), a touch of MAC's glittery eyeliner in Peacocky was thrown in there for good measure.

Black & Silver Glittery Shadows
Since I did a post on matte black eyeshadows, I though a post on shimmery & glittery blacks would also be a good idea.
Because I'm easily lured in by blacks with shimmer, this is going to require more than one post. For this one, it's concentrating on blacks with silver shimmer.
Cinderfella - MAC
This came out with the Style Black collection a while ago. One of MAC's mineralise shadows.
Nice, dark base absolutely loaded with silver glitter. Goes on smoothly but, because it's a mineralise, there can be a bit of fall-out. Much more dramatic when used wet.
Night Breed - NARS
This is gorgeous. Very deep, black base with vivid silver glitter. This one will show up dry & absolutely pops when used with a damp brush. Great texture that's extremely blendable.
Makes a really pretty liner when used wet.

Illamasqua - Toxic Nature
Last Thursday night I attended the Toxic Nature event at my local Illamasqua counter. There was a great demo with the new products that showed us how to use them, which was great & the look done on the model was fantastic.
I came home with four of the new Cream Pigments, a lipstick in Atomic, Precision Ink in Glister & nail polish in Radium. I also picked up the lip brush after seeing it used as an eye brush. It sounds peculiar but it's fantastic for crease work & lining the lower lids. I may have to buy another, I've not used anything else since I got it.
The four Cream Pigments I chose are Bedaub, Emerge, Mould & Dab.
These are amazing, they go on as a cream but dry to more of a powdery finish that's more matte. Although it is a matte finish, it's not dry & certainly not flat.
Cream Pigments can be used anywhere on the face & body. Bedaub & Emerge (mint green & peach) were used in the demo as colour correctors with Bedaub also being used as part of an eye look that also featured Dab & Mould as a liner. Mould was also used to stunning effect as a liner with Atomic lipstick.
