Sugarpill - Brushes Part I

Recently, the ever-fabulous Sugarpill Cosmetics launched their own range of brushes. One of my favourite brands, brushes, pink? No-brainer, these were definitely a must-have.

Four different brushes to review here, so for the sake of brevity, I'm going to split this into two reviews, with two brushes per post.

The first brush under review is the Tapered Blending & Crease Brush.

Tapered Blending & Crease Brush

Nothing too fancy with regards to packaging, but it's all about the contents within. With crease brushes, I tend to prefer a narrower brush for myself, but I carry a few different ones in my kit.

Sugarpill - Brushes Part II

For part one of this review, which features the Tapered Blending & Crease Brush and the Large Eyeshadow Brush, go here.

Of the four new brushes from Sugarpill, three are eye brushes. This is the third - it's the Precision Eyeliner Brush.

It has to be said - I'm a very picky person when it comes to eyeliner brushes for personal use. I prefer a pointy brush over the angled variety, I don't like them to be too fat, too floppy, and they absolutely must have a tapered, pointy tip.

I've tried a fair number of liner brushes now, MAC, Illamasqua, Trish McEvoy, but have never found what I'd call a perfect example.
Until this pink beauty landed in the post.

Size-wise, it's akin to the MAC 209, but these brushes can't compare. Sugarpill's brush has a much finer point to the tip.
The bristles are firmer, too. Not so firm as to give you a hard time, just firm enough to be able to hold that point without splaying the hairs whilst you're using it. That's not to say that softness has been sacrificed. Not at all.
It gives a very steady, even application of liner (this & the Inglot gel liner make a fabulous combination for a great, eye-enhancing line) without skipping or pulling.
Hands down, this is the best liner brush I've used to date. Additional Precision Eyeliner Brushes will be finding their way into my brush roll in the future.

The last brush we're looking at is the Lip Brush.

It's always handy to have an extra lip brush or three lying around, especially when I'm doing my freelance work. Since I'd decided to try the other Sugarpill brushes, it seemed to make sense to give the lip brush a whirl, too. Especially as you can buy the four together as a set for a bit of a bargain.

Very soft hairs on this brush, but they're still firm enough to retain their shape & not splay out whilst you're applying your lippy.Nice rounded tip with a very slight point. This brush works really well with Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tars.

However, this isn't just a mere lip brush, it also multi-tasks like a champion. That rounded tip makes it useful for adding a shimmery highlight to the inner eye corners & applying shadow under the lower lash-line.
It could even be used for concealer under the eyes and around the nose (because of my Kat Von D foundation, I can skip concealer).
For $18, you're getting far more than just a lip brush here!

In summary? These are all great brushes. They're synthetic, so cruelty-free. The hairs are soft, yet keep their shape very, very well. Not a huge deciding factor, but those pink gradient hairs are gorgeous. That precision liner brush! Seriously, I cannot rave enough about how amazing that brush is.

The only downside that I've found is that the hairs on the liner brush have become a little stained after last using it with my gel liner. Hopefully another good shampoo should sort that issue out.

Sugarpill - Smitten Limited Edition Loose Eyeshadow

Wow, I haven't done a post in a long, long time! Must try to make sure I update more often.

I decided to my first return post about the utterly fantastic Smitten loose eyeshadow by Sugarpill Cosmetics.
Smitten is another of those gorgeous limited edition shades. I'm not at all adversed to a limited edition, but when a company does practically every item as LE, it takes the sheen off. Happily, Sugarpill do it just right - the occasional LE item popping up every now & then.
