Deborah Lippmann - Flash Dance

Another fabulous glitter nail polish from Deborah Lippmann, this time it's Flash Dance.

Flash Dance is a mixture of fuchsia & purple glitter. Two or three coats of this gives you opaque glittery nails.
As with all of the DL polishes I've tried, this applies really easily & smoothly. The finish definitely needs a glossy topcoat. Although it does feel a little rough, it certainly isn't the worst glitter polish in that regard.

Deborah Lippmann - Swagga Like Us

Today's polish is Deborah Lippmann's Swagga Like Us. This is a metallic, almost chrome-finish, polish with a duochrome to it.

The base shade is a coppery gold shade that gives a great chrome effect on nails. Add in the duochrome, which is a green/blue/teal shift, and it takes it beyond your average gold polish.

Deborah Lippmann - Just Dance

As you may have noticed, I'm a sucker for glittery things. Deborah Lippmann's nail polish in Just Dance is indeed a glittery thing, and what a pretty glittery thing it is!

Just Dance is a stunning turquoise glitter polish, it's definitely not a top coat. Two coats of this baby & you have full, opaque glittery nails.

Just Dance

The glitter is a mix of small glitter and larger, brighter-toned glitter. Together, they make a perfect turquoise that's just gorgeous.

Deborah Lippmann - Ray of Light

Deborah Lippmann's nail polish in Ray of Light is a gorgeous indigo blue with what's described as "3D holographic" finish to it. The flakes, which are well-mixed throughout the base shade, shift colour with flashes of copper, pinky-orange, green & teal. Mostly, you'll notice the copper to pinky-orange tones.

The base is a jelly, but it's not quite as sheer as some jelly polishes. Two coats gave an almost opaque coverage, whilst three gave a true opaque finish, but I found that it flaked off too easily with three.

Deborah Lippmann - Today Was A Fairytale & Mermaid's Dream

I've been so lazy about posting recently. Too much other stuff going on, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of it again. So, to kick things off, I decided to start with two Deborah Lippmann polishes I recently bought; Today Was A Fairytale & Mermaid's Dream.

First up is Today Was A Fairytale. If you like silver glitter, you'll love this one. The base is sheer, but there's a blueish-grey tinge to it that stops it from being just another silver glitter polish.

Today Was A Fairytale

As with a lot of the DL polishes, the glitter is a mixture of smaller glitter with larger, hexagonal bits scattered throughout. It's a very vivid silver, not at all muted. So far, I've worn this alone, you need to build up a few coats to get full nail coverage. It would also look stunning over a coloured base; I'm going to try it over Zoya's Trixie to get a really sparkly silver mani.

Deborah Lippmann - Glitter Polish Haul

Three gorgeous glitters from Deborah Lippmann. These are more of a finishing effect than a full, glittery nail but they're still stunning.
Stairway To Heaven

Stairway To Heaven has a slightly milky white base that's full of iridescent glitter. You'll get flashes of pink, green, blue & yellow from this one. As it's not a completely clear base, Stairway To Heaven could probably be worn alone although it would take 3 or more coats to achieve a good effect.

Deborah Lippmann - Get This Party Started & Makin' Whoopee

Four new polishes for me, all from Deborah Lippmann. There's the Get This Party Started box set which includes three glittery shades & a single polish, Makin' Whoopee.

Get This Party Started includes Happy Birthday & two shades along a similar theme but with coloured bases. Candy Shop has a bubblegum pink base whilst Forget You is a black-based glitter shade.

Happy Birthday

Clear base packed full of multi-coloured glitter in various sizes. A couple of thin coats adds a pretty glittery finish to any base shade. You could probably get a solid, glittery nail from this but it would require several coats. Because of the sheer amount of glitter in this, it can be a bit of a chore to remove but it's worth it for the great look it gives.

Deborah Lippmann Polish Haul

Yet more polish goodness! The only Lippmann polish I had before this bunch came was the fabulous Bad Romance. Since I liked that one so much, I picked some more of the glittery polishes as well as a couple of others. The haul is comprised of Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Wicked Game, Call Me Irresponsible, Ruby Red Slippers, Don't Tell Mama, Across The Universe & Lady Sings The Blues.

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Gorgeous, metallic gunmetal grey shade. It's a dark one, for sure, but definitely not black. Applies well, two coats give the shade that appears in the bottle. Good, glossy finish even before you add a topcoat.

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Wicked Game

Silver base with a green & pink duochrome. This bears a slight resemblance to OPI's Not Like The Movies. The differences between the two are Wicked Game's lighter base shade & Not Like The Movies has a slight amount of glitter in it & the green tinge is slightly more obvious. Again, two coats gives the exact bottle shade but you can easily get away with one coat of this particular colour.

Wicked Game

Call Me Irresponsible

A bright, mid purple. No shimmer or glitter to this shade, it's a creme & a super glossy one at that. It'll take three coats to get it close to the bottle colour because this particular polish is quite sheer.

Call Me Irresponsible

Ruby Red Slippers

This stunning polish is one of my two favourites from this haul. Black base encrusted with red glitter in small flecks & larger, hexagonal pieces. RRS is what I wanted China Glaze's Lubu Heels to be. The glitter absolutely pops in this one yet it doesn't feel overly rough once applied.

Don't Tell Mama

Deep, dark, shimmery blue-green. It isn't quite teal because, depending on the light, the shimmers flash blue or green. I found the initial coat to be quite thin & streaky but a second soon fixed everything & had it looking like it did in the bottle. Very glossy finish to this one.

Don't Tell Mama

Across The Universe

My other favourite from this haul! Across The Universe has a deep blue jelly base packed with green & blue glitter in small flecks & larger hexagonal ones. Two to three coats gives the full effect. This shade is really glossy & makes me think of oceans for some reason.

Across The Universe

Lady Sings The Blues
Like Across The Universe, Lady Sings The Blues has a blue jelly base, although it's a touch lighter. The glitter, once again, varies in size & shape. The predominant glitter shade is silver but some are a pale blue. Two to three coats give a good finish.

Lady Sings The Blues

I'm turning into quite the fan of the Deborah Lippmann polishes, especially the glitters. They all have a glossier finish than other brands I've tried & the glitter finishes don't feel quite as rough & bumpy as some. The bottles are very simple, square & elegant looking.

A Bad Romance that's oh so good.

Glittery polishes are a weakness of mine, right up there with smoky eye colours. Add a black base in to the mix and I'm guaranteed to start drooling uncontrollably. Enter Deborah Lippmann's Bad Romance.
