Illamasqua - Pure Pigment in Ore

Although I'm not a huge fan of gold, I'd been eyeing Illamasqua's Pure Pigment in Ore for some time. This week, I decided to spend some Xmas money & finally pick it up.

Ore is more of a bronze-gold than a bright, yellow gold. For a vivid, bright gold, my first choice is Sugarpill's Chromalust in Goldilux .
What drew me to Ore initially is the shimmer; in certain lights, there's tiny hints of green & a peachy shade that  contrast beautifully with the base shade.

Ore, as with all of Illamasqua's Pure Pigments, is packaged in a square container that has a hole to dispense the pigment.

Since I tend to store these on their sides to enable me to quickly find the shade I want, I've found it best to leave the sticker over the hole intact. The pigment tends to spill in to the lid a little if I remove the sticker.

As far as texture goes, Ore, whilst being metallic & shimmery, is a fine powder & is very soft. Obviously, it has great pigmentation.

Sadly, neither of the swatch pictures have managed to pick up the green & peachy shimmer, which is a shame because it really does add to the overall beauty of this pigment.

For the swatches, I applied Ore dry straight on to bare skin. Only a couple of swipes were needed to get a strong colour.

Although you could probably find another shadow with a similar base-shade, I heartily recommend Ore. Once again, it's down to the pretty shimmer, it's what sets it apart from colours of a similar tone. Ore's great pigmentation & soft texture only add to the reasons to find a home in your stash for this pigment.

  1. It looks nice, but I'm not that bothered to try Illamasqua's pigments, simply because I can get such nice indie loose shadows :)

    1. It's just a shame I couldn't get the shimmer to show up properly.
There's some amazing indie loose shadows out there, I'd be knee-deep in them if I bought all of the ones I've drooled over. :)
