Illamasqua - Nail Polish in Poke & Viridian

Two shades of nail polish that kept catching my eye at the Illamasqua counter - Veridian, a metallic peacock green, & Poke, a bright, shimmery violet.

Poke

Stunning, vivid violet purple. Poke has tiny shimmers in silver & teal that show up on the nail, adding to the overall beauty of this shade.

Poke
Two coats will give a good, opaque, bottle-perfect shade. To really bring out the shimmer, a good, glossy topcoat is needed.

Beauty Bargain - MUA Dusk til Dawn palette

Another of the MUA palettes available from Superdrug, Dusk til Dawn is similar to Glitter Ball in the shades but Dusk til Dawn maybe runs a little to the cooler side of things.
The top row features neutral colours for a more toned-down look whilst the lower row houses the dark & vivid shades.
As with the other MUA palettes I've featured, there are no matte shadows in this palette. Three shades have glitter whilst the rest are shimmery, some more so than others.

Kat Von D - Adora Palette look

My poor Adora palette has been feeling a bit neglected of late so I decided to put it to some use the other day. This look was a bit impromptu, I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do with the palette but I'm pleased with how this came out.

Spotty Nails

Got a couple of new Konad plates, so I decided to test out the cute polka dot pattern. This was a little more messy than I would have liked. I used sticky tape to mask off the tips as I didn't want dots on them. Unfortunately, it left a sticky residue that made the pink section look a little scruffy. The nail art pen I used to create the lines smeared when I applied my topcoat even though I must have left it for over an hour before actually applying the topcoat.

For this look I used -

  • China Glaze - White on White (base shade)
  • China Glaze - White Cap (over White on White)
  • Essie - Flirty Fuchsia
  • Konad Plate M79
  • Black special polish
  • Black nail art pen

I would try this again, but next time I'll use nail polish remover & a cotton bud to wipe off sections of the base to replace with the pink rather than using sticky tape.

New Hair Colour & A Look To Match

Over the weekend, I decided to sort my fringe out. Most of it is black but a small part I kept blue (from the disastrous Smurf-Head experiment). The only problem was, it was a dark indigo, so it blended in a bit too well with the black. Bright blue seemed the way forward, but, as it turned out, my fringe went turquoise. It was a surprise but a good one.
The colour reminded me of Sugarpill's Chromalust in Starling, so I decided to use it in a look & ended up throwing some purple in there & a bit of black (of course!).

Nails - Jealousy & Gilt

Today's nails & I'm back on to the brighter colours. I decided to do a pattern on just the tips, rather than all over for a change. A bit of glitter seemed right thrown in there too.

What I used for these -

  • OPI - Who The Shrek Are You? (base colour)
  • China Glaze - Medallion (a thin layer for the glitter)
  • Konad plate M62
  • Black special polish

Kat Von D - Foiled Love Lipstick in Valentine

As soon as I saw this on the Sephora site, I fell in love. Valentine is described as being a metallic hot pink with iridescent micro glitter.

The packaging is stunning. As with previous KVD lippies, it has a beautiful rose design on the lid & the end of the tube is clear so you can see the shade of lipstick. Unlike the other lippies, this comes in a metallic silver tube.
