China Glaze - Whirled Away

It's been a while! I haven't posted anything since last october, due to moving house & having an absolute nightmare with getting back online. So, this is officially my first post of 2013.
Today, I'm taking a look at Whirled Away from China Glaze's Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away collection.

Whirled Away is a clear base with black hexagonal & bar glitter, plus white hexagonal pieces. I was mainly drawn to this because it has a similar effect to the Nubar Black & White Polka Dot polishes, but with a bit more oomph.

I found Whirled Away to be a little awkward to use - You'll need at least two coats to be able to achieve good coverage with the glitter, and you will have to dig around in the bottle using the brush. The white glitter, in particular, is difficult to get on to the brush & transfer on to your nails.

It does give a fun effect to your nails, particularly over a neon, which gives it an 80's vibe. However, this isn't a polish you can just slap on & go. It does dry quite quickly, and there's no rough, gritty feel to it.

Please excuse the chips in the shots with Turned Up Turquoise, a couple of glitter pieces were precariously balanced on the edge of my nail & ended up getting pulled off. Yet another slight draw-back to Whirled Away - you'll definitely need to do some fiddling about with the glitter.

Whilst this is a fun addition to my polish stash, it can be somewhat awkward to work with. The finished effect is cute, but only if you take your time with the glitter application.
