Urban Decay - Smoked Eyeshadow Palette

The newest addition to Urban Decay's palette line-up is Smoked. What Naked & Naked 2 do for neutral shades, Smoked does for deep jewel tones & smoky eyes.

Included are ten shadows, a full-sized 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion (matte black), a mini tube of Primer Potion & a booklet that gives step-by-step guides to different looks you can achieve using the shades in Smoked.

The shades included are Kinky, Freestyle, Mushroom, Backdoor, Blackout, Barlust, Rockstar, Evidence, Loaded & Asphalt.

Kinky - A pale beige shade with a matte finish. Makes for a good highlight. Good pigmentation, but a touch powdery. Exclusive to this palette,

Freestyle - Peach with a hint of brown, matte.Good pigmentation, but also a little on the powdery side. Exclusive to this palette.

Mushroom - Warm grey with a hint of brown, shimmery finish. Great pigmentation, soft texture but not powdery. This shade is also available as a single pan shadow.

Backdoor - Dark, cool-toned brown with a matte finish. Great pigmentation, not powdery. Applies & blends beautifully. Exclusive to this palette.

Blackout - Intense, dark black, matte finish. Great pigmentation, not powdery. Applies & blends really well. Also available as a single pan.

Barlust - Warm, shimmery bronze-gold-brown shade. Excellent pigmentation, soft texture. Blends & applies very well. Exclusive to this palette.

Rockstar - Dark, warm, shimmery purple with a red tone to it. Applies well, blends well. Great
pigmentation.

Evidence - Shimmery dark navy-blue. Not quite as soft as the other shimmery shades, but great pigmentation.

Loaded - Shimmery deep teal-green. This is a beautiful colour but it needs a light hand as it applies as an almost black shade if you use too much. Great pigmentation, blends & applies beautifully.

Asphalt - Dark silvery grey with shimmer. Not as soft as other shades in the Smoked palette, but decent pigmentation. Exclusive to this palette.

The packaging on this particular palette is great. Because it's fabric-covered, it may not be quite as sturdy as Naked 2, but it does weigh a lot less & take up less room, making it perfect for carrying around.  I like the fact that there's a liner included, as I have my own brushes to use.

Speaking of the liner, Perversion is a great choice to accompany the shades in this palette. Although it isn't my favourite eyeliner pencil, it is a good one. It's a good, solid black that glides on the lids & smudges easily. Once it sets, it stays put (I do always use a primer).

The swatches were done on to bare skin, using the shadows dry.

Smoked is a great palette, the colours included give you a lot of options to create a beautiful smoky eye. I like the fact that there's four matte shades included, rather than every shadow being shimmery. Although not every shade is brand-new & exclusive, it's still a good palette to add to your stash if you love smoky eyes. Despite owning some of the shades already, I got this because of its portability; it's perfect for packing for a weekend away or to stash in your bag for touch-ups on a night out.
