Look - Chartreuse Fizz

Today's result of boredom turned out to be the look I've named Chartreuse Fizz. Because I had absolutely no clue what I was doing, I did just the one eye, in case it all went horribly wrong. As it turned out, I was rather pleased with the result.

Kat Von D - Ladybird Eyeshadow Palette

The newest palette from Kat Von D's Sephora line comes in the form of Ladybird. This is slightly different to its predecessors - every shadow in Ladybird is a matte finish.

As is standard with the KVD range, the attention to detail on packaging is stunning. A metal tin houses eight shadows, a mini pencil liner, and a mirror in the lid.

Look - Toxic Envy

It's been forever since I last posted, I really ought to start doing it more often. To kick things off, here's a look I did last night. It wasn't planned out, but I find that those looks always turn out far better than ones I have planned.

Look - Smoked Out

Just a quick, smoky eye I did last night to go to a gig. I was feeling decidedly under the weather, so a smoky eye seemed like the best choice to go with.

EOTD - Pylean

Another look inspired by Angel, this time I took my inspiration from the character of Lorne. As with Illyria, this was another test run, so I only did one eye & used no other make-up. Again, it could use a little perfecting, but I liked the basic idea.

Kat von D - Lock-It Tattoo Foundation

As soon as I heard about Kat von D adding a foundation to her line at Sephora, I was chomping at the bit to try it out. When it was added on to the Sephora site, I spent ages pouring over the swatches trying to find a good colour match. I chose Lock-It Tattoo foundation in Light 42.

Firstly, the packaging is nothing short of stunning, as with the rest of the KVD line. The box is embellished with the rose design that appears on other items from the line.

Kat von D - Mi Vida Loca Palette

The latest palette from Kat von D's line at Sephora; Mi Vida Loca. Whereas a lot of her previous palettes have concentrated on a smoky eye theme, Mi Vida Loca is all about bright colours, you won't find any darks inside this one.

Of all of the KVD palettes done in this style, Mi Vida Loca has what I consider to be the best packaging. Its artwork on the lid is really colourful & it's so pretty.

Rock 'n' Roll Challenge - Blackout In The Red Room

I had a bit of a debate with myself as to whether I should post this, I didn't feel it turned it out as well as I'd hoped. That's what I get for rushing to get myself ready.

Anyway, this is the first part of a little challenge I've set myself. I'm trying to come up with make-up looks themed to a song or album title. This is the first one, named after Love/Hate's Blackout In The Red Room.

It looked better in person, but it was still a bit off somehow.

Look - Wine & Holly

Last night's outing to see Alter Bridge gave me an excuse to play with my new Kat von D palette & do something fun. I'd not tried a colour-combo using red, green & black yet & thought I'd give it a whirl. As well as colours from the Candelabra Edition palette, I used some of my Sugarpill colours to give it a bit of a pop.

Kat Von D - Tattoo Chronicles Candelabra Edition Palette

The latest offering from Kat Von D's line at Sephora comes in the form of the Tattoo Chronicles Candelbra Edition eyeshadow palette. As with the previous Tattoo Chronicles palette, this is also packaged to look like a book.

And what spectacular packaging it is! The attention to detail on packaging is always first rate with the Kat Von D line, but this particular palette, with its black velvet finish & red metallic overlay, is truly something else.
Inside, there are actual pages with artwork & writing by Kat.

Kat Von D - Sinner Palette

The third & final of the new Kat Von D palettes from Sephora. Sinner is full of colours to create smoky eyes.
As with Poetica & Saint, the palette is now made of metal, rather than the rubberised finish of previous palettes. The lid is embossed with the design that's featured on the box.

Inside the box, there's a sample sachet of the High Voltage eye primer in the shade Skin. The palettes no longer come wrapped in paper like they did before.

Kat Von D - Saint Palette

Saint is the second of the three new Kat Von D palettes from Sephora. Saint features a range of nude & earth-toned shadows.

The cardboard sleeve is decorated with roses, these are also embossed on the palette lid. Inside the sleeve, there's a sample-sized sachet of the High Voltage eye primer in the Skin shade.

As with Poetica, the mini double-ended brushes seen in previous palettes are gone, there's now a mini Autograph pencil eyeliner in Puro Amor (black).

Kat Von D - Poetica Palette

One of the three new Kat Von D palettes (I'll be covering the other two very shortly). Poetica comprises purple shades with neutrals, shimmery black & a coppery colour. Poetica is a similar colour scheme to the True Love palette, although Poetica has no cream shadows.

Packaging-wise, these palettes still come housed in the cardboard sleeves featuring Kat's artwork. Previous palettes were wrapped in black paper, the new ones aren't. Inside the box, a sample sachet of  the High Voltage Eye Primer in the Skin shade.
The actual palettes are now made of metal, rather than the rubbery finish of previous palettes. Each features a different embossed design.

Kat Von D - Adora Palette look

My poor Adora palette has been feeling a bit neglected of late so I decided to put it to some use the other day. This look was a bit impromptu, I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do with the palette but I'm pleased with how this came out.

Kat Von D - Foiled Love Lipstick in Valentine

As soon as I saw this on the Sephora site, I fell in love. Valentine is described as being a metallic hot pink with iridescent micro glitter.

The packaging is stunning. As with previous KVD lippies, it has a beautiful rose design on the lid & the end of the tube is clear so you can see the shade of lipstick. Unlike the other lippies, this comes in a metallic silver tube.

Kat Von D - Angeles Palette

The latest palette from the Kat Von D line at Sephora, Angeles comprises of browns, blues & turquoise. In this palette, there's 3 shades that have made an appearance in previous palettes: Leather (in both Beethoven & Ludwig palettes), Rehab (in the Truth palette) & Peggy (Memento Mori). As with most of the palettes, there's a cream shadow inside.

The packaging, as always, is stunning. The box features rosaries in gold. On the actual palette, they're black.

Kat Von D - Lock n' Load Setting Mist

Since I love the Kat Von D range, I thought that I'd try out the Lock n' Load Makeup Setting Mist. Along similar lines to the Skindinavia & Urban Decay setting sprays, a light mist of Lock n' Load promises to set your makeup & hold it in place.

I've used it for several days now, in place of the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray that I usually use & I'm quite pleased with it.

Lock n' Load is a very light mist going on. It doesn't feel overly wet. Nor does it feel sticky upon dry-down. It's very lightweight & although it gives you a touch of a glow, I found it to give less of a glow than the All Nighter spray.

Black Shimmer Shadows - Blue & Green

The last in the Black Shimmer Shadows series of posts. Blues & greens are the featured shades here.

Dagger - Kat Von D

From the Metal Orchestra palette. In the picture, this looks far more blue than it actually is. The pan is a black base packed with blue shimmers. Best used wet for full shimmer effect. Soft texture that blends well & very pigmented.

Oddfellow - Kat Von D

Another from the Kat Von D palettes, this time it's from the Love & Fury (or Adora) palette.
Oddfellow has larger glitters than Dagger. Both blue & green glitter are packed into the black base, although, on the pictures, it looks predominantly blue. Whilst it's best used wet, it still has a good amount of shimmer used dry over a slightly sticky base.

Lightweight Black - MAC

A limited edition from the Summerwear quad, Lightweight black hasn't got the deepest of black bases. As with other MAC velvets, the shimmers blend right out of this when used dry. Using it wet will give a better result.

Black Shimmer Shadows - Gold & Red

The second in a series of posts on black glittery shadows. This one has blacks with gold & red shimmers.

Smoking - MAC

From the Smoking quad that came out with the Smoke Signals collection. Another velvet finish shadow like Black Tied, this isn't the darkest of black bases. As with Black Tied, to get the shimmers to show, this needs to be used wet. Using it dry & blending gets rid of nearly all of the shimmers.

Tijuana - Kat Von D

Tijuana has been in two of the Kat Von D palettes; Memento Mori & The Tattoo Chronicles palette.
Vivid gold shimmer that will show up if used dry but really pops when used wet. Nice, smooth texture that blends well & a good, solid black base.

Black & Silver Glittery Shadows

Since I did a post on matte black eyeshadows, I though a post on shimmery & glittery blacks would also be a good idea.
Because I'm easily lured in by blacks with shimmer, this is going to require more than one post. For this one, it's concentrating on blacks with silver shimmer.

Cinderfella - MAC

This came out with the Style Black collection a while ago. One of MAC's mineralise shadows.
Nice, dark base absolutely loaded with silver glitter. Goes on smoothly but, because it's a mineralise, there can be a bit of fall-out. Much more dramatic when used wet.

Night Breed - NARS

This is gorgeous. Very deep, black base with vivid silver glitter. This one will show up dry & absolutely pops when used with a damp brush. Great texture that's extremely blendable.
Makes a really pretty liner when used wet.
